We are a blended family of 7. Originally we lived in Northern California, where we thought we were amazing gardeners, if you planted it, it grew.
After moving to Colorado and buying our first home around 2007, we quickly discovered that the altitude, clay soil, and dry climate were not as forgiving as what we were used to.
We keep chickens, have dogs, garden regeneratively, camp, hike, hunt, fish, and cook.
In general we try to slow down, be present and offer our children (some grown) the time we didn’t have when we were just scrapping by. Please enjoy our lives, the ups and downs, the failures (lessons) and our successes.

In under a 1/4 Acre, we grow and produce as much as we can
Located in the Front Range of Colorado’s eastern slope, in a quiet suburb, we are far from the big homestead bloggers. Over the last decade and a half we have transformed our yard, both front and back from chemically treated lawn to dry climate tolerant perennials and garden space. We add more food production space every year, and are constantly experimenting with how we can grow more calorie dense crops in a small space.
